Integrative Approach

Meaning, I use which ever approach suits you as an individual.

I offer a variety of Counselling styles that will help you overcome some deep personal challenges, and allow you to achieve your individual life goals. I cater to each of my client’s personal needs in order to unlock their full potential.  I utilise the Person Centered Model as my core practice style, but where there is an exploration around managing certain behaviours I may then ask if you would like to use a CBT or creative excercise to help better deal with issues in the future.

Person Centred Approach

This is a non-directive approach to talking therapy.

This enables clients to talk about what it is they wish to discuss, rather than the therapist advising the client on what they think they should discuss.

The beauty of this approach is that the therapist has been trained to offer core conditions which allows the client to feel respected, not judged and emotionally heard.

These conditions aim to provide an environment which usually clients may feel they lack outside of the counselling room.

This approach focuses on a therapeutic alliance between client and therapist, built around trust.

CBT

The CBT model is more directive in its approach as it's based around solution outcomes.

This would include activities that are carried out either within a session or set as a little homework.

If a client wishes to work more short term and has a particular area they wish to work on, then CBT assists clients in finding strategies they can use to change some patterns in their thinking and behaviours.

Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT is an alternative strategy used to help shift a client's emotional and even physical pain.

This involves tapping on the meridian points over the body, which connects to the internal organs.

A therapist would continue rounds of tapping within a session to help reduce the severity of the issue.

This can be similar to a meditative experience and can focus on statements and phrases that are repeated by the client in order to connect with the area of difficulty and in turn reduce its severity.

Trauma Informed

Trauma-informed therapy is a therapeutic approach that recognises and addresses the impact of trauma on a person's mental and emotional well-being. It focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals to process past traumatic experiences without re-traumatisation. This approach acknowledges that trauma can stem from various distressing events and can lead to various mental health conditions.
